Christie’s Paris: A cloisonné enamel and celadon jade ‘double gourd’ wall vase, Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century

The body in cloisonné enamels in the shape of a double gourd, decorated on the lower part with a shou character within a medallion in an entourage of lotus flowers and foliage scrolls and on the upper body with a lotus flower surmounted by a bat. A large golden knot is tied at the junction between the two bodies. It is attached to a celadon jade plate carved on the edges with ribbons and bats.

Dimensions: 24cm, 9 1/2 in high.

Sold on behalf of a German private collector at Christie’s Paris, 16 December 2022 (lot 85) for €16,380 (Estimate €6,000-8,000).
