Provenance: Purchased in Tokyo in 2014; Mujintang Collection. 

This design of children flying kites may well have been inspired from a more complex depiction of the same subject from The Fang Family Compendium of Ink Cakes, 1588, Vol 3, p. 16, illustrated below.
